The Clinical Guideline specialist service is accessible to all UHCW staff. The aim of this service is to:

• provide good quality evidence to guideline authors
• ensure that clinicians receive up to date information to update, review or write a new guideline
• ensure that UHCW recommendations are informed by the best available research evidence

NICE guidelines are based on agreed national guidance to improve people’s health. Its recommendations are based on evidence of both clinical and cost effectiveness within the NHS.

Locally developed clinical guidelines recommend how healthcare professionals should care for patients with specific conditions. They are produced within the Trust.
